Who we are

Coastland College is a General Further Education College spread across two campuses – one situated on the stunning Jurassic coastline in Weymouth and the other on a beautiful 18th Century Estate near the market town of Dorchester. As a newly united organisation, we’re bringing together the best of both Weymouth College and Kingston Maurward College to create an even stronger learning experience, with enhanced resources, a broader range of courses and industry-standard facilities.

We are Connected | We are Courageous | We are Dynamic

We are Empowering | We are Welcoming

With our combined expertise and resources, Coastland College is now one of the most dynamic and versatile further education providers in the region. From A-Levels to vocational courses and land-based studies to Apprenticeships, we have one purpose: to inspire our students and apprentices for individual success beyond expectation, ensuring that they are future-ready and prepared for today and tomorrow’s world.

Our supportive and dedicated community of staff place our students at the heart of everything they do, ensuring every learner thrives.

About your role

Are you ready to inspire the next generation of land-based engineers?

Join our dynamic Agriculture Department, home to a thriving 280-hectare mixed commercial farm (dairy and sheep), where learning is hands-on, and the connection between theory and practice is at the heart of everything we do. With access to a wide range of machinery and diverse landscapes—from arable fields to parkland—our learners benefit from real-world experience that prepares them for the future of farming and engineering.

As our student numbers grow and our curriculum evolves, we’re looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Land-based Engineering specialist to deliver high-quality, engaging lessons and practical sessions across a range of levels.

What you’ll be doing:

• Teaching land-based engineering and machinery-related units with a strong practical focus

• Collaborating with our Farm Manager to integrate real-time farming operations into your teaching

• Inspiring learners through hands-on experiences and industry-relevant content

• Supporting students’ development with a flexible, positive, and motivating approach

What we’re looking for:

• Significant vocational experience in land-based engineering or agricultural machinery

• Excellent communication, organisational, and administrative skills

• A passion for teaching and developing young people

• A relevant degree or equivalent qualification (desirable)

• Teaching qualifications (desirable—but we’ll support you to gain them!)

This position is full time for 37 hours per week.
