Our award-winning FLEXible Learning Provision focus on meeting the needs of our local communities by using outdoor learning to inspire people into employment, training, education or social engagement.
The FLEXible Learning Provision is offered around the Yorkshire region and was created for learners aged 19 and over – with no upper age limit – who can study the course at either a level one or a level two to gain a nationally recognised qualification, alongside improving their confidence, professionalism, communication, and teamwork skills. The course is as flexible in nature as it is in name, and can be easily completed alongside work or family and childcare commitments. In addition to this, the uncapped upper age limit means you will meet people from all walks of life and professional or educational backgrounds.
The programme is designed to support learners to achieve their goals and provides the stepping stones to employment, further education, or apprenticeships.

The Prince’s Trust is the UK’s leading youth charity offering 14-30-year olds opportunities to develop confidence, learn new skills, get into work and start businesses. It aims to help young people who would not otherwise have the opportunity to succeed - particularly focusing on those who are unemployed, educational underachievers, within or leaving the criminal justice system or leaving care.
The Prince’s Trust Team Programme is a 12-week personal development course of up to 15 young people aged between 16 and 25 years old who take part in a challenging and action-packed 12-week programme. The young people are from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, including employees, paid for by their employers. This team ‘mix’ is a unique ingredient which contributes to the development of all Team members. The Team develops confidence, motivation and skills and offers young people the opportunity to gain qualifications. The aim is to help young people move into employment, education or training.
We are looking for 3 full time Course Managers to run and support our provisions across different locations. As a cross between teaching and youth work, delivering the 12-week
Prince's Trust Team programme will put you on the front line of helping vulnerable, complex and challenging young people get into work and/or further education/apprenticeships.
You will be responsible for the delivery of 3 (x 12 week) programmes a year. The qualification you will be teaching is the Princes Trust Certificate in Employment, Teamwork and Community Skills.
On this 12 week intensive programme, you will work with a cohort of approximately 15 unemployed young people aged 16-25, taking them on a journey through ice breakers/team building, a 4 day (3 night) residential (outdoors activities), delivery of a community project, 2 week work experience placement, employability skills and mock interviews, a team challenge and finally a graduation ceremony where all the young people have to stand up and present to a room full of stakeholders. It’s an extremely challenging, but infinitely rewarding job.
The successful candidate will be excellent at engaging with, and motivating, vulnerable young people. They will have experience of working with, supporting, and engaging hard to reach young people on a one-to-one basis and in a group setting. Communication and interpersonal skills are paramount as we need an individual who will be able to work confidently with a range of stakeholders and young people to deliver this programme. One-to-one mentoring and support and teaching are essential to the role and it is key that this is done in creative and innovative ways that young people will enjoy.
The successful candidate will, under the direction of the Curriculum Team Leader and Curriculum Area Manager:
Ensuring that the programme is delivered to a high standard in line with requirements
Outstanding assessment and feedback to learners supporting their journey and experience to their next steps
Recruiting a range of young people across the target group
Progressing young people through the programme in line with department requirements
Writing End of Team Reports after the completion of each programme
Supporting the implementation of multiple outdoor enrichment activities, the supports the learner’s development
Maintaining accurate records
Ideally you will have:
Experience of working with young people between the
age of 16-25 years who are NEET
Teaching and assessing experience
Experience of working in an outreach and community-based role with a range of agencies and organisations
Relevant experience in the education/charity sector
The ability to effectively support and build trusting and positive relationships with young people, resulting in positive outcomes and progression
Experience of recruiting young people to take part in training/outreach activities in the community
Experience of building and maintaining positive and productive relationships with stakeholders and professionals in aid of the recruitment process
Experience of managing and challenging behaviour of young people in a group setting
Knowledge of innovative and creative ways to engage and recruit hard to reach young people
A sound knowledge of Safeguarding children and young people and experience of managing such situations
The ability to work as part of a team to achieve common objectives
The ability to complete funder paperwork and achieve performance outcomes
Demonstrate that you take responsibility and ownership, e.g. meeting deadline, delivering presentations to partners, managing own diary

Main Purpose of the role
The Course Manager role is responsible all aspects of the development, recruitment and high-quality delivery of their allocated courses, and that all internal and external systems and procedures relating to management of students and quality of the course are completed in a timely manner.
Key Tasks / responsibilities:

Leadership & Management
Lead and manage an agreed course/s
Manage full compliance regarding all elements of the Programme to meet student satisfaction and progression and that these are monitored and reviewed via Pro-Monitor and quality assurance/audits.
Manage effective implementation of the College quality management system and quality review schedule within the department via moderation processes and ensure standardisation is effective within your department and liaise with awarding bodies and external verifiers, moderators and examiners as appropriate.
Support in the curriculum planning for Adult and Future Skills programmes, prospectus information and timetables.
Manage student recruitment enquiries as required.
Deal with immediate student issues.
Undertake the responsibility of internal verification for agreed courses.
Support with the management of department budgets.
Support with the organisation of enrolment events, interview evenings, parent evenings, taster events, open events and others marketing events as required.
Set high expectations for the appearance of the department and staff.
Represent the department internally and externally and develop and facilitate strong links with partner schools, Higher Education Institutions, other educational organisations and employers.
Teaching, Learning and Assessment Management
Plan, prepare and teach agreed programmes within the year.
Be instrumental in the implementation of the TLA policy.
Support Curriculum Area Manager Adult and Future Skills with high quality teaching and curriculum management within the department.
Support the Curriculum Area Manager Adult and Future Skills on the development of resources and improvements within the department for the course/subject including maintaining effective links across College.
Manage teaching effectively, including covering the teaching of classes as and when required. Manage the completion of timely assessment activities, and support the IV in the process of quality assurance ready for EQA sampling.
Work with the quality assurance department and engage with all activities
Personal Development Behaviour & Welfare Management
Manage student expectations by implementing the student disciplinary policy and procedure.
Support the management of ‘Professional Development’ and ‘Work Placement’ programme within the department to ensure all full-time learners undertake the agreed period of career progression and work placement (as appropriate).
Support the student’s development through learning progress reviews
Participate in professional development activities as required.
Support the department in the planning and preparation of cross-college events and other marketing activities
Liaison with students and parents.
Curriculum Area Manager, Curriculum Team Leader and administrator within the department.
Other central College teams, e.g. Quality, MIS, Marketing, Student Services, Estates, HR, IT and Finance.
Employers – work closely with employers to ensure the curriculum reflects their needs and also that placement/career progression opportunities are provided for learners.
Partnerships – Local Enterprise Partnerships, local schools,
HEIs, Funding Agencies, Awarding Bodies.
Stakeholder engagement – working with and developing relationships with referral agencies
Social enterprises/organisations – developing relationships to engage projects and engagement activities/work experience for learners
