You will join our dynamic, forward thinking department which includes marketing, communications and applications. You’ll help develop and deliver an innovative programme of student recruitment activity that positively impacts on the reputation of the college and maximises recruitment opportunities for target markets, schools and colleges. You will support potential students through their entire ‘student journey’ from initial interest, through application, right up to enrolment making use of the College’s systems to report and interpret data ensuring students are fully supported and informed at every stage. You’ll also contribute to marketing and promotion of the College across a wide spectrum of events, networks and stakeholders.
The role is 37 hours per week, sometimes ‘out of hours’, and although based in York will cover all of our campuses.
Educated to degree level or above in a relevant subject, you will have experience of working with a wide range of people with different social and ethnic backgrounds, with different abilities and ages. You will have experience of public speaking / presenting and working within a team.

Main purpose of the role:
The development and delivery of an innovative programme of student recruitment activity to maximise recruitment opportunities with target markets, working with target feeder schools/colleges
The co-ordination of an innovative and energetic recruitment team that develops and maintains a network of key influencers/stakeholders, both internal and external to the College
To embed evaluation and monitoring into all activities in order to ensure the team proactively approaches target schools/colleges with tailored activity for best effect
To ensure that all members of the Student Recruitment and Enquiries team maintain up to date knowledge of the college and its offer
To oversee communication and engagement with school, college and other stakeholders for recruitment for all college campuses
To support all aspects of the recruitment process including application follow up to complement smooth transitions throughout all stages of the student journey
To ensure local delivery of marketing, event and internal communications support across all sites through self and the Student Recruitment Assistant
To contribute to the development of marketing campaigns for careers’ leads/influencers and relevant school-based curriculum links in conjunction with the Student Recruitment and Applications Manager and the Marketing and Development Manager
To coordinate the college and university centre open events both in person and digitally, communicating clear event plans and feedback to curriculum, support and senior leadership teams
To work closely with current students through the Student Ambassador Scheme, assisting the Student Recruitment Assistant to recruit, train and supervise a team of Student Ambassadors across the York and Middlesbrough campuses
Key Tasks / Responsibilities:
All tasks to be carried out in a consistent manner with the corporation’s culture.
Working with the Student Recruitment and Applications Manager to;
Identify and target feeder schools / organisations which have the potential to generate applications liaising with and visiting them on a regular basis
Maintain records of team activities for the Student Recruitment and Applications Manager, to inform analysis of activity impact, and application and conversion reporting
Maintain and extend a network of contact with key influencers, including schools, colleges, and careers’ leads/referral agencies
Contribute to the student application process, monitoring and facilitating the smooth transition through all stages making informed use of the College’s MIS system.
Contribute to the development of marketing campaigns for careers’ leads/influencers, and relevant school-based curriculum links including informative events/communications for key stakeholders aimed at maintaining their knowledge of the college and its provision
Support the development and delivery of a programme of tailored activities aimed at improving student recruitment opportunities
Contribute to marketing and student recruitment action plans to support student recruitment and internal progression
Implement the local marketing and promotional activity for all sites, including local event management, and liaising with campus staff to generate news stories, assist with photo calls, collate content for marketing literature, and generate and distribute social media content
Taking the lead in the planning, co-ordinating and promoting of open days, information evenings, taster sessions, workshops, shows, events and enrolment activities working with the Internal Communications and Events Co-ordinator
Identify relevant community based initiatives in which the College can play a relevant part to support awareness/positive brand perception
Identify key recruitment opportunities and coordinate attendance at events, and external meetings and networks e.g. careers conventions and job fairs
Support the recruitment, training, supervising and evaluation of Student Ambassadors, creating clear briefs for their involvement with events and campaigns and supporting their professional development.
To regularly feed market information to the Communication Directorate to inform decision making and future planning
To coordinate and chair of regular Student Recruitment Team meetings and attend other relevant meetings both internally and externally
Be actively involved in informing development of marketing materials (i.e. creation of course information) and contribute to the planning and creative process
To assist the SRAM in ensuring continuity within the recruitment and application process
To assist the SRAM in HR matters including the recruitment of new staff, co-ordination of holidays across the Student Recruitment and Enquiries Team, and sickness records / cover rotas, supported by the SRAM
To interrogate, manipulate and interpret data from the College’s MIS system to produce and act upon reports to inform relevant colleagues and key stakeholders regarding the recruitment and application process
To line manage the named ‘responsible for’ roles undertaking relevant staff appraisals for members of the Student Recruitment Team referring any issues to the SRAM
Contribute to team budget planning for team activities and subsequently ensuring delivery within agreed budgets and plans
To provide support to other members of the Communications Directorate as appropriate
In addition to the above, the Communications Directorate team members are expected to:
Support cross-college initiatives and promotional activity and events co-ordinated by the Internal Communications and Events Co-ordinator and delivered by the team and others. Such activities may include open events, taster events, information events, graduation ceremonies, College events, external recruitment/promotion events, enrolment and student-based events.
